July 2010-2nd Half w Video

*whew* ok. I finally have a minute to get this done. Mom's got Amaia at Chuck E Cheese and the baby is asleep. During the last two weeks of July we had Amaia's birthday party (which I already posted about)....and that's about it. I spent the last half of the month finishing that busy book (which I also already posted about), and getting a few random odds and ends tied up around the house and cleaning the house so it was spick and span before the baby came.I was a wreck because I thought for sure this baby was going to come early-and so did the doctor. Even spending all day Thursday cleaning and vacuuming the house didn't put me into labor. We still ended up going in at 7:30 Friday morning to the hospital.Anyways, here's some of the stuff Amaia's been doing-and this list is a doozy so brace yourself:
*She got a Mr. Potato head for her birthday. Her favorite thing is to take all the pieces, stuff them in the back, and then dump and repeat. If the back door is closed, she'll come ask me to 'open pay-tato bum'. :)
*I think we might have already mentioned this, but just in case-when she helps with the laundry she'll use the dryer sheet to wipe the lint off the lint trap. Only now, she will pull it off piece by piece and shake the lint into the trash can before going back for another piece.
*She started saying 'yes' instead of 'yeah'. Only it's super cute, because she sounds like a mad scientist when she says it, because she draws it all out like 'yeeeeeus'. Add an evil laugh at the end and you get the whole package deal
*She's learned all about traffic lights-she'll tell me 'red dop' when she sees a red one, and 'deen do!' when we pass a green one. And she thinks yellow lights are orange :)
*When it's time for prayers at night (and at nap time too) she'll make us all kneel down. No standing or sitting cross legged (like I tried to do becuase it was getting to where it hurt to kneel). She even makes her teddy kneel down, which doesn't always work out very well.
*We all have heard about how independent she's been, but now every thing is "Amaia do it sulf'.
*Her hair is getting so long that it's constantly in her face when it's left down. So she'll come ask me for 'hairties out of face'. And then once I pull it back, she'll get so excited because "Amaia see now!"
*If I make any sort of pained expression or sound or anything, it's either a) because 'mom back hurt', or b) I need to be more 'pareful' (careful)
*Sometimes she'll come up to me and tell me that she's sick. And then she'll go get 'wrap up bankey' and that makes it aaalll better.
*When she pulls a book off the shelf to read to herself, you can always tell which books I've read to her and which I haven't. Her favorite is the "Hand Hand Fingers Thumb" book, and she'll look at it and go 'dum dum dum' and other stuff like in the book. Then she'll pick up a book I've hardly ever (if at all) read, and she'll just make up the randomest noises, not even trying to look at the pictures and tell the story from that.
*Started walking on her tip toes every so often-even running like that sometimes
*When we go shopping, if she's got her blanket, she'll always ask me to fold it up to make it into a pillow. Then she'll lay it on the handle and lay on it.
*She's such a little pain-in-the-neck sometimes-she'll be just about ready to do something she's not supposed to (like dump her cup out onto the carpet). She'll look at me, ask 'dump it?', and sit there waiting for an answer. And then as soon as I say no, it gets dumped. Grrr.
*This is one of my favorite things that we leraned this month. You know how some kids get a kick out of mom flying the spoonful of mashed potatoes like an airplane and making flying noises, and then the plane lands in the kids mouth, right? Well with Amaia, we do animals. I'll scoop up a bite, she'll pick an animal (say a chicken), and then as I'm flying the spoon to her mouth I get to say 'bak bak, buh-gock!' as it lands in her mouth. She thinks it's hilarious and we can usually get her to eat all her food that way.
*Her favorite song is the "Waving Flag" song from the World Cup. Or as she calls it-the Soccer Ball Song. Every time she's in the car with Justin she'll ask for him to turn it on for her, and then she'll dance all crazy.
*It's not more. It's 'mow-er'.
*She recognizes and can name numbers 1-5, 7, 8, & zero. And the Letter U.
*So this one time, it was like 9:30 in the morning, and Amaia was asking to watch the lion movie. I thought it was too early, so I showed her the minute hand on the clock and told her when it got to the top, that we could watch the movie. Somehow that's morphed into '5 on top', so when she asks for it and I say no, she'll say we have to wait for '5 uh top watch lion movie'. Don't ask where the 5 part came from-I have no idea.
*thank you is now 'kank you'
*So back when we were learning colors, when we would do the 'brights' batch of laundry, I would hand her the wet one from the washer and say what color that item of clothing was, and then she would take it and put it in. Then after we learned the colors, I would just say "Amaia's shirt" or "daddy's sock", etc as I handed her each item. Apparently she got sick of it, because about halfway through the batch one day (and this has happened every time since) she told me 'mommy no talk'. :(
*When she colors with her markers, she'll put the cap on the back end of the marker. She figured that out all on her own, cuz I certainly didn't teach her that.
*Every time she pulls up her underwear and pants, she'll say "amaia pup it". That's her way of saying she wants to pull them up herself.
*a napkin is a 'man kin' and a vacuum is a 'dap oom' and squeaky is 'goinky'
*So one day, early in the moring, I brought Amaia into our bed. She looked out our soaking wet windows and thought it was raining outside, so of course Justin taught her all about condensation. She repeated the word perfectly. Then a few days later, Justin had a bottle of ice water that was all wet on the outside. She points to it and says 'condensation'! Holy crap she sure picked that up fast.
*Every night when we put her in the shower or into her PJ's, she freaks out because she doens't want to put her underwear and pants into the dirty clothes basket. We still haven't figured out what she would rather have us do with them...

Here are the pictures. Some of just Amaia:

Amaia's Busy Book

Well I did it. I started this project beginning of July, took a hiatus for about a week right before Amaia's party (so I could work on stuff for that) and 'finished' it yesterday. I put that in quotes, because as I was going through my pictures I saw a few things (that I won't point out) that I'd like to fix someday, but at this point I've got better things to be doing.

Here is the front cover. It's a little more boyish than I was planning for, but oh well. I have to give Justin credit for the design of this page. Each 'page' is two pages sewn together, back to back, around the edge. It's got a 2" strip of black 'leather' (folded in half, with raw edges in between the pages) that I used to bind the book together. I put 3 button holes in each black strip (there are 9 pages total, I think, so a lot of button holes). The 'rings' are a piece of ribbon with a button on one end and a button hole on the other, just looped through all those button holes I made. That way, if I want to take a page out, I just unbutton the ribbon loop and take the one page out. Then on the other side I've just got the two buttons on the front cover, and two elastic loops sewn onto the back cover to help keep it closed (because there's a lot of stuff in there!)

This is the I-Spy page. I cut the hole out of the page, sewed the clear plastic vinyl stuff over the holes, and then edged the holes with the ribbon. There are 2 layers of the plastic-one on the back that goes all the way around (to make the pocket) and the other on the front with a slight opening at the top so that I can switch out the pictures after a while. Now I just have to find enough small things to make another one! I swear used everything I already have in that one...

This page has 3 strips of the 'pokey' velcro. The letters are just scrapbook paper mounted onto cardboard and then covered with contact paper, with the fuzzy side of the velro on the back. Pretty ghetto, I know, but I didn't like the look of the store bought cardboard alphabets, and now these are a little waterproof if someone decides to chew on one. The pocket holds the rest of the letters and it done up with three sew in snaps.

Here are my buckles. Pretty self explanatory, I guess. Just had to make the fabric tubes and sew them down. I'm a little sad bc my overalls buckle up there only comes off if you hold it at just the right angle, and I doubt any kid's going to figure it out. Oh well.

Shape matching. I bought a package of iron on denim patches. Then I made two copies of each shape-one out of the denim and the other out of a gray fabric. I sewed the velcro onto the gray piece and then sewed the two shapes together, so you can't see the velcro stitching on the top. Then I traced the shapes on the back of the page and used that as my outline for where to stitch the outlines. Again, more ghetto fabulousness. I'm sure there's a more efficient/better way to do it, but I improvised.

Here is my puzzle page. He's a lion, in case you can't tell. I liked how the two fabric coordinated, but in hindsight I wish I would have done a bigger contrast. It's sort of hard to tell what he is. I ended up hot gluing the velcro to the back of the pieces so you coudln't see the stitching because I forgot to add the velcro until after the fabric was already fused together. Each piece has a small piece of velcro on the page, where you attach it, but if I did it again I'd just put a grid of velcro so the pieces didn't have to be so exact in order to match up.

This is one of the first pages I finished, and I hate it :) My shoe lace is too short, I couldn't find a nice outline of a shoe anywhere so I ended up tracing my shoe and then shrinking the image. So it just looks funky. And it's boring. I couldnt' think of any way to spruce it up.

Here's my dinosaur page. Like the letters, these guys were printed off, mounted on cardboard, and contact papered. They've got the pokey velcro on the back so you can pick them up (and the trees and sun) and move them around where ever you want. Sort of like a mini flannel board.

This is one of my favorites. A little barn (the tree has little red brad 'apples') and when you open the barn doors....

you get little animal finger puppets! Don't mind the pig, he was the original-not-as-good pig, but I lost the better pig after I used him in the I Spy picture. Even after a 100% reorganization and cleaning of the craft closet and room, I still can't find him. So the ugly pig gets a turn for a while.

Clock. Eyelet in the clock and then a brad to hold it all together. Just puff paint on the numbers with that fake black leather making the hands.

Flower buttoning. I tried to make each button different (since I couldn't find them all the same). I just used scraps from my pile to make the flowers and then used my buttonholer on my machine to make the holes in each one.

Here's the first page I ever made for this thing. I like the text but I don't like the rest of it. The mirror I 'salvaged' from a foam craft mirror thing, and it got all scratched up in the process of removing it. And then my ribbons all not even. And then I found out that you could just buy those not-glass mirrors at the craft store plain, and I was sad :( That would have been so much easier.

Same idea as the I Spy page, but I put pictures in, that can be rotated when I feel like she's getting bored of the pictures I've got in there.

She got magnets on the back side, and each piece of clothing has a magnet as well.

Probably my favorite page is the cow page. I was originally going to cut out the spots from the white leathery stuff and put different textured black stuff in the holes. But then I saw this one page in someone else's busy book that had little flaps with numbers, and underneath was that # of small items. So i merged the two ideas, and I love it. I'm sad my barn is crooked, but hey. What can you do? Each flap has something different underneath. Here's what's under the 7:

for the rest I just used the smallest random things I could find. Like the 2 has a pair of googly eyes under it, the 10 has 10 mini brads, and the 8 has these little black buttons. You get the idea.

Tic tac toe. Ugh this page sucked! anyways, it's got a magnet behind each of the 9 cubes, and each of the 10 game pieces (you guessed it, paper with (no cardboard) and contact paper on the outside) has a magnet as well. Then you just store them all in the zippered pouch when you're not playing, so you don't lose all the pieces. Oh, and I hand stitched around every single one of those petals on the flower. Just FYI :)

Crayon roll-I didn't make the 'back' like you would a traditional crayon roll. I just used the page itself as the back, and sewed the pocked onto it. The little envelope is made out of sew in heavy interfacing and then I cut paper to the size of my envelope and hot glued the top together to make a little note pad.

The back cover. Just to point out-all my pages are made from felt (by the yard-I think). Or wool felt. I dunno. All I know is, I bought a whole bunch of it because I was going to make one of those super long trench coat things out of it, (along with the heavy sew in interfacing that I used on some of the pages, and that I put in between the cover pages to make it a little sturdier) and then I changed my mind and went with a dark gray with a sew in interfacing. Which I still haven't finished, for those of you who saw me working on it at sewing group like forever ago. The Outside covers are just plain old regular felt that I bought in squares at Hobby Lobby, but it worked out ok because I had the stiff interfacing to keep it from being so floppy.
So there it is! Took me forever, cost waaaaay to much, but it's cute! I plan to wrap it up for Amaia so she can open it at the hospital. Which is in 2 DAYS BY THE WAY!!!
Yea yea, I told every one I wasn't going to make it my c-section date. Boy did I shove my foot in my mouth. But it works out because I got tons of stuff done (like Amaia's party, this busy book, laundry, vacuumed the car!...) that I really needed to get done. And I still have more to do, so she better not even think about it!

Well I did it. I started this project beginning of July, took a hiatus for about a week right before Amaia's party (so I could work on stuff for that) and 'finished' it yesterday. I put that in quotes, because as I was going through my pictures

Amaia's 2nd Birthday

Happy Birthday Amaia!
I thought I would make this a separate post, so that way I have one less thing to worry about come the end of the month (since I have like 4 days until baby # 2 gets here! maybe less....). I've also 'finished' my busy book. Just need to take photos and then I'll (hopefully) get that posted this week too.

Anyways-back to the party.

We had Amaia's at our house this year. We wanted to do it at the same place as last year, but since I wasn't sure if our friends would be around (plus there isn't much seating for eating there anymore-someone's run off with all the furniture... :)) we just decided to do it here and keep it small (-er than last year).
The theme this year was LADYBUGS! which I think Amaia really liked. She didn't quite get the whole birthday thing at first. Then we went to her friend Kate's birthday party the week before, and that whole week she kept talking about Amaia's 'bo-bay potty'. It was cute.
Here are the pictures (no video I don't think...):

Amaia opening presents

The 'Pin-the-Ladybug-on-the-Flower' Game. We didn't have winners or prizes or anything. And no, Amaia's wasn't either of those two on the yellow (the intended target). She was almost there, but moved it at the last second. Those two in the middle belong to the Larson boys :)

These are just some random pictures-the decorations (what little I had time to put up), Amaia in her birthday outfit that I made. The shirt used to be a onesie that was like 12 month size. I'm sure it would have been just fine if I left it as a onesie and snapped it up, but once I sliced off the bottom and hemmed it up, it definately doesn't fit anymore. Oh well.

Here you see (clockwise from top left): Her birthday outfit, the bean bag toss thinger, the ladybug cake pops that I put in the party favors, the ladybug bean bags that I put in the favors (each had the kid's name stenciled on the black belly), the invites, the pin the ladybug game, the cake, and the little pots planted with flowers that I put in the favors.
Cake time! So Amaia has this little block that is clear on the sides and has a birthday cake with one candle on the inside. She's been carrying that thing around for probably a month and blowing out the candle. I even got her to blow out a little tea candle I had lit for some reason. And then we get to her party. She blew once like way far away, and then kind of flipped when I lifted her up so she could reach-I ended up blowing them out for her. And then of course she ate none of her cake. I'm pretty sure she doesn't like cake or frosting. Definately takes after her dad on that one (brownies she likes though....)

So towards the end of the party one of the ladies there pointed out how my little bean bag toss thing looked like one of those cut outs for pictures. So we put a pan upside down behind it for them to sit on and made all the kids pose with their hands and feet sticking out. Too bad I couldn't get Amaia to smile :( but it's still cute

speaking of bean bag toss, did anyone mention how hard it is to photograph moving objects when it's just not that bright? Usually our camera kicks butt at the whole 'hold-the-button-as-it-takes-a-million-pictures' thing, but it was just dark enough out (we had our party at 5 for a dinner party) that it's all yellow and the action shots got all blurry from lack of light. I'll admit that it's mostly my fault-we could have moved the game, or I could have sat on the other side so I was shooting into the light. But hey-what can you do?
So that's it. Amaia had a lot of fun. She went around all night talking about her 'yeaga bug' birthday party and that all her 'friends tum'. And at the end we all got to go out and see an awesome double rainbow right out front. All in all, it definately went better than last years party. :)
MY BABY IS 2!!! ACK!

July 2010-1st Half

Ok,
I'm getting this out of the way fast because there's a lot of stuff coming up in the second half of this month, and I dont' want to get behind.

First things first: As of Wednesday I'm 4cm dilated at 90% effaced, and my contractions have gone from just hard-as-a-rock and holy-crap-i-really-have-to-pee to slightly painful. Nothing near bad enough send me to the hospital, but it's definately working towards that. I'll be really sad if this baby comes before Monday (since that's Amaia's birthday), and slightly put out if she comes before Wednesday (Amaia's 2yr appt and I gotta get my hair done so I look good, darn it!), but I'm almost positive we won't make it to the 30th for our scheduled c-section (no one hold me to that, though).

This month was fun-well I'm sure they're all fun but stuff happened that I actually remembered!
First of all, we did a 'maternity shoot'. Meaning, Justin, along with our good friend Sarah, took pictures of my roundness in our backyard. But they turned out super cute and I didn't have to pay a cent for them. Here they are:

We also went to see some fireworks. Luckily we brought our camera to take pictures, although it was a little tough with a street lamp right there. Then you add the humidity+smoke, some of them were super foggy. It was tons of fun though-so many people were there setting off fireworks all at the same time. Needless to say it got a little loud at times! I spent a good chunk of time holding Amaia's ears-one of her ears against my cheek and the other plugged with my finger (leaving me a free hand to plug at least one ear). She would get kind of scared with the noisy ones and start chanting 'no, no', but then as soon as they were over she would ask for more. I have a couple pictures below of the fireworks. They are by no means all the pics we took, but the best 3. Plus a super awesome shot of the clouds from our backyard, plus a couple things I made this month:

(I know you're thinking "wow, only 2 things, huh?" well most of the time has been spent on making Amaia's busy book and doing stuff for her party. Party pics will be up next post and I'll post the busy book as it's own post as soon as I get it done, so you'll just have to wait)
Also, I gave Amaia paint. At least it was finger paint and didn't end up staining anything. At first it took her a while to realize that she could paint on things other than the paper I gave her....Like herself:

But after about a half hour, when the paint started to dry, she was done. I guess she didn't like the stretchy/itchy feeling of dried paint on her. Which was fine, because at least she was the one to end the fun, and I didn't have to be the bad guy :)

On to Amaia's Can-Do's:
She will sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" (first line only, but it's still super cute)
She asks to 'watch soccer ball'-aka the World Cup.
She's got a few big words under her belt (meaning she says them pretty much the right way): controller, battery, toilet, Argentina, alligator, and I'm sure others that I've forgotten. She pretty much picks up everything we say at this point.
She learning the difference between boys and girls. She'll go around saying 'so and so BIG boy', or 'so and so BIG dirl'-most of the time she gets it right
I guess I tell Amaia to be careful too often. If I say ouch, Amaia will say "mom pareful" :)
When we first get in the car from the store, and it's like a friggin oven, I usually comment on how hot it is in the car. Amaia then goes (every time) "eneh-ee-un on?" (aka-air conditioning on?)
She apparently knows all about my teddy/blankey laundry swap every week. We have 2 of each her Teddy and her Blankey, for washing purposes and of course if one gets lost. Every Tuesday I'll take them when she's not looking and hide them in the laundry under a pile of towels, then go to her room and get the spares out of her closet and drop them on the floor like I never did anything. Then I'll wash and dry them and put them away while she's napping. Except one week, all she saw me do was come out of her room with the new ones, and she got all excited about a 'neeuw blankey'-wft? I thought she would flip out if she new I took it away and washed it, but she was excited all day about the new one.
Every once in a while she'll forget to come tell us she needs to go potty. When that happens, she pees a little in her underwear, then remembers and comes to tell us. Except she'll say "unner-ware clean?" instead of "potty". It's her little way of saying she didn't straight up pee her pants, but that it's a little wet down there.
A lady bug is a 'yega-bug' (we've been talking about them alot since that's the theme for her birthday party)
She loves watching the blog videos, like I think I've mentioned. Lately though, instead of asking to just 'watch Amaia', she'll ask to "watch amaia peetler?' (on the computer). As opposed to what, you ask? I have no idea.
On top of know what the # 1,2 &3 look like, she's learned the #5 as well, and it's safe to say that's her favorite number.

June 2010-2nd Half w/ Video

Sorry again on the late blog post. I forgot I had video to do as well and then I couldn't find time! But anyways, here it is.
Only a little over 3 weeks until baby # 2 (ya that's right, she still has no name) is here! Or maybe less since the doctor told me I'm already 3cm at 36 weeks...so we'll see. Hopefully not too early because I still have a lot of stuff to get done, including Amaia's birthday party. I'll be really put out if I can't do it.
Here's Amaia's 'Can-Do's for this month:
A hair tie is a 'tee-tie'

when we open the sun roof, she reach up with both hands and grab some sky. Then she'll make us get some, in both hands, even if we're driving. And then she'll eat the sky, and insist we do the same

still loves baby sister-she'll share her blankey with her by putting it over my stomach, and sometimes when she's playing on my iPod she'll hold it at an angle so that they can both 'see' it.

I guess I shouldn't be calling it 'my iPod'-that kid uses the thing more than I do! If I even get it out all I hear is 'turn iPod??? turn iPod more?' until I give it to her....

That being said, she sure messes up a lot of stuff on my iPod...Like adding things to my calendar, possibly deleting them, setting alarms, deleting Apps, and she deleted the note in my Notepad that had the list of all the things she did new in the last few weeks, so bear with me as I try to remember as many as I can

She's gotten herself a little attitude. She's been quite independent for about a month or so, but now it's just pure attitude. She's not so great at sharing anymore, and has started to hit when she gets mad.

Usually we let Amaia sleep in the car during Sacrament Meeting since church is 12-3 (aka her nap time), that way she gets at least an hour or so. This past week she decided she wasn't sleeping. After church we heard from her nursery leader that he saw a new side of her: She usually (according to him) will play nice with the kids (and I dont' remember exactly all he said), but last week she was hitting and the word of the day was "nnnnnnnnoo!"

She's started to say no (just like that-all the n's drawn out), even if she's doing what I asked her to do, she'll still say no.

She'll sit herself in the corner and tell me she's in time out. When I ask her what she did or why she was in timeout, about 90% of the time it's because she 'hit andrew' (our little friend across the street). The other 10% she hit either Daddy or Teddy.

If she doesn't feel well, she come up to me and in the most saddest voice ever tell me 'Amaia sick'. It's so sad, especially when 20 minutes later she's throwing up. And then she comes back and tells me that she needs tylenol, or that we need to go to the doctor to make her better. No kidding, she didn't say it in so many words, but that's definately what she was telling me.

She thinks that baby sister and/or mommy is always sick, because we keep going to the doctor and apparently you only go to the doctor if you are sick

I got her one of those 99 cent tape measure things (like a measuring tape, but floppy like a tape measure) at the store. She calls it her 'pink thing' (since it's pink) and will go around measuring things, and tell me 'measure book' or whatever it is that she's measuring. She also likes to measure my tummy like the doctor and tells me to 'no moof'.

she always asks for a 'hanle-burr' as we pass the McDonald's on our way out of Walmart

She's finally figured out how to pronounce 'f', 'th', and the 's' when it comes at the beginning of a word

I told her that Mom's name was Emily (since she knows that Daddy's name is Justin) and she started running around saying 'un-a-mee Amaia' :)

We watched Vern's kids one Saturday, Dillon and Kaylee, and ever since then she's referred to her little baby doll as 'Baby Kaylee'. She likes to put her to bed on a pillow with her blanket, or take her to the bathroom, or change her diaper (by lifting her legs up and asking for a tissue so she can wipe her bum). She does this with Teddy and other dolls too.

She can dress herself! The only bummer is that if she starts to get it on backwards there is no helping her-she'll freak out if you even reach out towards her while she's putting her clothes on. The only hope for a straight outfit is to lay them on the ground right side up before she ever grabs them

Not sure if I mentioned this, but she sings the BINGO song, except all she says is "B-I G-O" over and over

A fruit snack is called a boo-nak

I don't want any funny comments about Argentina losing-the pictures and video were (and still are) really cute :)

June 2010-1st Half

Ok, so I'm trying to be better about this.
But apparently I've slacked off photo-wise. These are seriously all the pictures we took the past two weeks. I usually have to narrow down the hundreds (you think I'm kidding?) of pictures to pick a handful for these collages. Let me just say that every single picture we took is down there.

That being said, at least I have some stuff that Amaia's been up to (must hurry because my back is friggin' killing me!):
She'll give eskimo kisses-or as she calls them, 'minimo' kisses
A Piano is a 'meen-o'
Everytime I take Amaia to the bathroom, she'll copy what I used to say and go "I comin'"
After we use the bathroom, Amaia insists that we dry our hand off at the same time on the towel, or she flips a lid
Good morning (which she never actually says in the morning) is "ahh moanin'"
When I wake her up, we do have a nice "HI" match-she'll say Hi, then I'll repeat it, and then she will, on and on. She says Hi really drawn out, with a lot of emphasis on the H part (think that fluffy thing Katie from the movie Horton Hears a Who)
She can count to 5 on her own now, though I'll be darned if I can get her to do it for the camera
When I give something to Amaia, all I have to do now is say "What do you say?" to get a "thank you"
When she wants me to sing "Daddy's Homecoming" she'll ask for the "Daddy Home Daddy Song"
If she wants me to sing "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam" she'll ask for the "baby Jesus song" (don't ask me...)
When she gives high fives she'll knock knuckles afterwards-she's even been known to give air high fives :)
Learned how to say Happy Birthday (happy bo-bay)
Sometimes when she's in a hurry, like when she's running full force to the bathroom, she tell me that "Amaia fast airplane"
Along with 'Amaia Happy Now', we also started to get "Amaia Funny" and "Amaia Otay"

So...enough about her. Things are going good around here. I'm starting to get big :) I know it's been forever since I posted a picture of my roundness, but I dont like to do them when my hair isn't done (I know right? be vain when I look like a friggin' hippo...) and when I actually do my hair, we totally forget. So hopefully I'll have one for the next post.

In case you haven't heard, our C-section date it scheduled for JULY 30th at 8:30 in the morning. Which couldn't come any sooner because I can't stand this back pain! I swear it's like right in the kidney (ok maybe alittle higher, but right around in there) on my back and inside in the front. It only hurts when I'm sitting down, but it's not like I get to lay down all day and standing isn't much fun either. I've tried our massage chair (which makes it feel good, until the massage is over), a rice bag (which also feels good until it gets cold) and next on the list is Icy Hot. I have no idea if it's a muscle pain or joint pain or what. If Icy Hot doesn't work I might have to resort to plain old tylenol...as much as I dont' want to. But MAN it kills!

Ok sorry, enough about me :) Sorry no video (we probably got just as scant amount of video as pictures the past two weeks, so it woudln't me much of a video anyways). Now I'm off to try and finish off my list of To-Do's and Crafts that have to be done in the next 6 weeks (yea-6 weeks!!). Wish me luck!

May 2010-2nd Half w/ Video

Oh dear.

It's already time for my June post, and I'm just barely getting around to my May. Oops. Part of the reason (or my excuse) is that I can't sit at the computer for very long anymore-my back yells at me if I do. This post was actually done in 3 steps: I uploaded the video, the pictures, and wrote the thing all on 3 different days.

Anyways...this month we went swimming a few times with the Deans up at Bentwater:
Yes, she's in her underwear in that picture up there. The swim suit (which was size 12-18 months) was literally falling off her little bum, probably because we ditched the swim diapers now that she's potty trained. The underwear kept her bottom covered better than the swim suit did

Some of the things Amaia's been up to:

She asks for me to sing BINGO by asking for 'more doggy song;

She's super obsessed with having a new baby-she'll 'her', kiss her, cuddle up with my belly, and when she thinks the baby's moving she'll lay her head on my stomach. She calls her Baby Sister and gets so excited to go to the doctor to listen to the baby's heart.

When we drive in the car, she'll ask for the sun roof to be open. When we open it she reaches up with her hands, grunts, and claims she 'got some' of the sky. And then, most of the time she'll eat it :)

She gets just as excited over big semi trucks and buses as any little boy I know

We officially graduated Amaia to a twin size bed! The Deans were going to (I think...) give us their two convertible cribs when they shipped off to CO, and that wasn't going to be until the end of July. I wanted to get Amaia switched sooner so there were no hey-baby-you're-in-my-bed problems, so when we got a bunk bed set from the other Deans, we set up the top bunk on the floor and she loves it! She doesn't get out until I come to get her, and since it's a top bunk it's got railing all the way around it so she doesn't roll off in the middle of the night.

Had a phase where every time she would share something (usually sharing her snacks/food with Teddy and/or Blankey) she would go "ohh 'weet" bc I would always say 'sweet' when she shared.

Every time she hugs, no matter what or who it is, she goes 'awwww' for herself :)

She'll run around saying "Amaia Happy Now". One day she was telling me all about how Amaia was happy, and Mommy was happy but "Daddy No Happy Work" :)

When she wants me to sing the "On top of Spaghetti" song, she'll ask for the "Achoo Song"

Apparenlty, a duck says 'kack', and a pig says 'wink', and a monkey says "oo-oo-ah!"

Mom's hair straightener is called "mom's hot thing" and the hair dryer is called "mom's wind"

She'll run around going "Amaia screamin'!" and then she'll go "ah!"

Can say all her colors: Red Orange (utch) Yellow, Green (deen) Blue Purple White Black Gray and Turquoise (geekle-daise)

Only recognizes (like if I ask her what color something is): Blue Red Yellow and Orange all the time-every once in a while she'll get a different color right, but NEVER gets green right.

We taught her her name-If you ask her "What's Your Name?", she'll answer "Amaia". I was getting sick and tired of people asking her what her name was and since she didn't know I would have to answer...

For a week or so after we went swimming she kept saying "out buddy buddy water" (every body out of the water) even though no one ever said that while we were swimming...

As you can see from the pictures, she loves swimming. She gets to excited to play in the water. We just have her using arm floaties now and she loves to steer herself and kick her feet to get around.

Can count to 3 on her own (see in the video) and if you help her count to ten, she'll get to 3, and then knows 5, 9 and 10 :)

Enjoy the rest of the pictures, and sorry the video is sort of long this month :S
